Activities
The Iron Age burial mound groups on the Schaltenrain cannot be reached via official hiking trails. The hike can be started from Albert-Anker-Haus to Hasenburg and Grabhügel. And can be continued towards Schalenstein and the UNESCO world heritage site Lüscherz. It will take ca 2.5 hours.
Practical Information
The impressive medieval castle ruins lie on a steep spur, hidden between deep ditches and streams, with the rare traces of stone walls, residential terraces, and a fortification clearly visible. It is one of the largest castle complexes in Switzerland, measuring 350 m in length.
