Discover the site
There is no other municipality in the canton of Aargau that has so many remains of all periods of history as Sarmenstorf. Geographically well situated, overseeing the See- and Bünztal, this landscape offered the best conditions for human settlements. That is why Sarmenstorf has always been one of the most developed regions in the southern part of the canton of Aargau. The Roman villa with its baths in Murimooshau, the prehistoric grave mounds in Zigiholz, the medieval fort Heidenhübel, the late medieval chapel of St. Wendelin and the parish church are only some of the most visible relics of this rich past. Different footpaths lead the visitor to nearby archaeological and historic settings and offer him insights and views into an age-old cultural landscape.
